About Kasey
Kasey Griffiths will be a 5th grader at South Mountain Elementary School in Dillsburg, PA. She has twin 14 yr old brothers, Kaleb and Kato. She has 3 little dogs that she adores and is a real animal lover. She wanted to be an M.D., but now has decided be a veterinarian and be involved in animal rescue. She has a very pleasant personality and takes life in stride. She loves math, reading, music, dance, soccer, tennis, biking, creating, TV, playing with friends & just being a normal kid. She loves to please and succeed.
Kasey was diagnosed with high risk A.L.L Leukemia and has been ill off and on since mid February. Thankfully, there have been many achievements in the medical field, making this type of Leukemia very treatable. However, iIt is a very long treatment process and Kasey knows she has been faced with the fight of her life. She has been prepared to take on this challenge placed on her since day one. She is visually impaired & has never let that get in the way of her success, nor will this interruption in her life. She has already overcome some serious complications of the chemotherapy in such a short period of time and has continued to keep on smiling.
One day she was playing in that giant 5 feet of snow goofing off having the best family fun ever & the next day our lives changed forever. Our little athletic, smart, energetic girl had come face to face with a reality no child should have to stare in the eyes. Yet, this child has taken it to the utmost unusual level & is making it a positive challenge instead. She is the exception to all rules. Kasey loves life, people & has a great future planned ahead of her already. She always finds ways to use every downfall to her advantage and turn it into a positive. She has kept her spirits up even the night she was told she had cancer. She is a very intelligent young girl and fully knew the extent of danger she was facing. The first words out of her mouth when I told her were, "Well, Mama, you always taught me to look on the bright side of things." She immediately pumped herself up to realized this was a gift from God of some sort. She feels she will be guided to the answer as to why she has had to face up to such a hard challenge. While in the hospital she came up with her new motto, 'NEVER GIVE UP' when we were doing scrap booking. Her attitude has been more than admirable and inspiring for a young girl her age. She is a very motivated and happy child that will win this battle and go on to help many others with all she has learned from it. She never ceases to amaze all the doctors, family and friends with her curiosity with all the medical procedures and education she is getting from all of this. She is very interested in the entire challenge she has been faced with. Kasey and her entire family are very humbled from all the support, love and prayers they have gotten from the entire community and wish to express their sincere gratitude to all pulling for Kasey and ask that the prayers don't stop until she is cured! She will NEVER GIVE UP!
